Types of roses

Alba - also known as white roses. Are one of the oldest types of garden roses, brought into Britain by the romans.

Gallica - The Gallica roses are from central and southern Europe. These flowers bloom once each year usually in the summer.

Damask - Brought from Persia to Europe between 1254 to 1276. Summer Damasks bloom once each year in the summer.

Centifolia - also called Provence, raised in the seventeenth century in the Netherlands.

China - These roses have an amazing ability to bloom repeatedly in the summer and until the late autumn.

Hybrid Perpetual - Are the dominant roses of Victorian England, they are derived from the Bourbons.

Tea - A mixture between two of the original China Roses and Noisette roses. More tender than other old garden roses.

Bermuda "Mystery" Roses - Very unique roses that are have grown in Bermuda for a century at least. These roses have an ability to bloom in hot and humid weather.

Miscellaneous - There are also few smaller types such as Scots, Sweet Brier and some climbing types of old roses like Ayrshire, Climbing China, Laevigata, Sempervirens, Noisette, Boursault and Climbing Tea.

- Floribunda - These roses are smaller and have large clusters of more then ten flowers on each stem. They Look much more beautiful from a distance, and are sometimes used in public parks and gardens.
